Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Webinar:
The Big Payback can lead to the Big Payout: Retaliation
Presented by Debra Finney, EEOC Memphis District
Wednesday, June 15, 2022 - 10:00 - 11:00 am
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is responsible for enforcing federal laws that make it illegal to discriminate against a job applicant or an employee because of the person's race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, transgender status, and sexual orientation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability orgenetic information.
Preventing employment discrimination from occurring in the workplace in the first place is preferable to remedying the consequences of discrimination. The EEOC is committed to providing training, technical assistance, outreach, and education programs on any matter related to EEO laws. The EEOC believes that discrimination can be averted if organizations and individuals know their rights and responsibilities.
- Wednesday, June 15, 10:00-11:00 am (ET): The Big Payback can lead to the Big Payout: Retaliation – Retaliation is the most frequently filed charge with the EEOC. Significant costs are associated with retaliation; monetary awards and settlements, low morale, high turnover, etc. What is retaliation? What can an employer do to combat retaliation? These questions will be answered in this session.
