October Sky Festival

Janelle Arthur, American Idol finalist, is scheduled at 2:00pm to headline the long list of entertainers at the 9^th Annual October Sky Festival. This is a free event, gates open at 10am til 5pm on October 15^th at the Arrowhead Park in Oliver Springs. Scheduled music: 10am Sarah Hepler and Tre Jackson, 10:15 Jerry DeMaria known for his renditions of Frank Sinatra, 12pm Greg Johnson “Elvis” and friends, 2pm Janelle Arthur, 3pm Nashville’s Ben Briley, also an American Idol finalist, and closing out the day at 4pm gospel music by Dudley Evans and ‘Victorious.'

Local authors and artist will be featured by the Arts Council of Roane County, and the Authors Guild of Tennessee. There will be dozens of craft vendors and exhibits, demonstrations from Fort Southwest and the Tennesseans for Living History enactors. A Cruise-in-Car show welcomes anyone wanting to display their vintage vehicle, tours of the movie sites and historic homes and fun for the kids.

BBQ, funnel cakes, fried pies and fresh doughnuts, hibachi favorites, fried pickles, fajitas, are just a few of the mouthwatering foods that await you when you come to spend the day and relax with us as we celebrate our heritage and enjoy the viewing of the fall foliage.

Be sure to stop by the historic Depot and Archives on Winters Gap Road, and enjoy the many artifacts our residents have on display. Donations are welcome, proceeds go to benefit the Oliver Springs Historical Society’s Museum Project, which will be open for viewing of our progress.
