Multi Church Pentecost Celebration
Roane County Cooperative Ministries, in partnership with area churches, is sponsoring the first annual Pentecost Celebration, a county-wide birthday party for the Christian Church.
All of Roane County is invited to attend the event at Fort Southwest Point Park Pavilion in Kingston from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday June 8.
“This Pentecost event is described in Acts 2 and took place on a traditional Jewish day of celebration called Pentecost,” John Leitnaker said.
This traditional celebration is why such a large group of people from across the world were gathered together. This event is often described as the birthday of the Christian church.
“The event will include the joy, ice cream and cake of traditional birthday parties and the gathering of a large, very diverse group as occurred on that “Pentecost birthday” so many years ago,” Leitnaker said.
“The event is an opportunity for churches and Christians of Roane County to build the unity envisioned by Jesus, as described in Scripture, and draw closer through joyful celebration, wonderful music and worshiping together,” he added.
The celebration will include live music provided by local praise bands and children’s activities, including a bounce house, face painting and snow cones.
People are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets, extra water to drink and corn hole games.
