DESCRIPTION:TVA Seeks Your Input on Future Power Generation\n\n\n\nThe Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) in partnership with Rockwood Electric Utility (REU) is building the energy system of the future to enable ongoing and future growth around the Valley\, focusing on cleaner and more efficient energy generation while maintaining low rates and reliable power for the 10 million people we are privileged to serve.\n\n\n\nAs part of this effort\, TVA is conducting environmental reviews to assess the potential impacts associated with the proposed retirement\, decommissioning and destruction of the coal-fired units at the Kingston Fossil Plant near Kingston and Harriman TN\, and the potential construction and operation of alternative replacement generation.\n\n\n\nTVA is asking for public feedback as we evaluate two options for replacement generation.\n\n	  A natural gas plant with battery storage and solar generation on the Kingston reservation.\n	Solar and energy storage facilities of alternate locations primarily in East Tennessee.\n\nTVA will not make a decision without public input and the completion of the environments reviews\, which is planned for early 2024.\n\n\n\nSubmitting Comments:\n\n\n\nTVA will accept comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement starting May 19\, 2023 and received no later than July 3\, 2023.  Comments received including names and addresses\, will become part of the administrative record and will be available for public inspection.\n\n\n\nComments may be submitted in person at one of the event listed below\, or online at www.tva.com/nepa or by email to nepa@tva.gov.
