She earned her PhD from the University of Kentucky\, MA from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock\, and BA University of Central Arkansas.\n\n\n\nWhile working on her MA\, she became fascinated with effective crisis communication which eventually led her to the University of Kentucky where she earned her doctorate.  Her research specializations include risk and crisis communication  with several projects funded by the Department of Homeland Security  health communication\, and communication ethics.\n\n\n\nIn August of 2011\, she was hired by King as an assistant professor and director of the new Communication bachelor's degree program in Knoxville.\n\n\n\nAlyssa has also co-authored several textbook chapters\, specialized handbook essays\, and peer-reviewed journal articles pertinent to her research interests in applied communication.
